Dear Ghoulfriend,
My boyfriend of 6 months invited me to his prom but I hate those kinds of events and I don't know how to break it to him that I really don't want to go. I hate the prom clothes and the whole formal shtick. What should I do? I don't want to hurt his feelings.

Given your feelings about traditional ceremonies and protocols, I can't fathom why you would continue to date this vile creature. Clearly he has no regard for your comfort or sensibilities. His invitation to attend this distasteful event is insulting and rude. If you consent to endure this prom, he will then expect you to accompany him to weddings, funerals and sporting events. Get away from him immediately, before he has the opportunity to permanently damage your psyche! If you feel that you can't "hurt his feelings," we will be happy to intervene on your behalf.
