Dear Ghoulfriend,
I've been keeping a head in the freezer for several months and it seems to be drying out. What can I do to keep it from getting freezer-burn? My husband and I ate most of the body on our wedding day and we would really like to eat the head to celebrate our first anniversary, but we're afraid it will taste awful. Any tips for keeping it fresh?

What a lovely idea! I had never heard of keeping the head for the first anniversary, but it's a very nice tradition. Be sure it's well-wrapped in a food-storage bag, followed by several layers of heavy-duty aluminum foil. Despite your best efforts, I'm afraid the eyes won't hold up very well. You might as well thaw them out now and eat them right away. In addition to having a little snack midyear to remind you of your nuptials, you'll have spaces in the head for placing long, elegant tapers when the big day finally arrives.
